A natural extension of the Collapsible Foraging Bag was to continue to explore options for water-repellent, food-grade storage bags made from waxed canvas. Seeking to replicate the functionality of small gear storage bags with more-sustainable maerials, my canvas work has explored simple bag designs with zipper-free closures.
Zippers are almost always the first component to break, are highly difficult to repair, and tend to render bags useless when they fail, making them a poor choice when designing products to last a lifetime. Zippers are banned in my bag designs, and though this makes many aspects of bag design more challenging, these constraints fuel creative design choices like these and the Field Bag.
